Capture this

When you've been through a tough work week, you hold on to weekends like dear life. Some spend those precious hours taking back lost sleep or simply doing nothing productive. I used to do that before but right now that I have more time in my hands, I'd rather exhaust myself with things I love doing and spend them with people I love being with.

My weekend ended more than an hour ago, and I thank the heavens for an awesome one. Now sharing a few photos to immortalize such event:

Gone back dancing. In Singapore, no less! Wow. I thought I'd have trouble finding a happy place for this happy hobby of mine but here I am - three consecutive Saturdays of flexin' my dance muscles already. My body is psyched.

I'm seriously committing myself into this. I'll have to tell you more of this on a separate (and elaborate) post if I'm not too lazy to blog.

Took an afternoon dip at the Sands Skypark's infinity pool at Marina Bay Sands Hotel with my cousins while overlooking the city. It was lovely strengthening our intermittent closeness there. Even the weather was cooperative - just the right amount of chill.

And those, dear folks, were two free days well-spent.

Squishypoo's 3 today!

From just being a 4D ultrasound image to a bubbly bundle of joy, I watched this little cutie grow up only through pictures on Facebook. It is only then we officially met when his parents graciously took me into their humble abode. That's why I get to live with him now. And that's why nursing a bad case of homesickness was incredibly easy.

Micah turns three today. He's the smartest, most polite and well-behaved toddler I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. He's a babysitter's dream; seldom cries or throw tantrums. Even lets you hug and kiss him non-stop without any effort of protest from him. At two, he can already identify what letter is what (I once asked him to tell me what letters he see on an Evian bottle label. And he read it afterwards!). It's hard not to fall in love with him, really.

I may not be biologically related to this sweetiepie but I believe being a family need not only be associated by kin. You know, sometimes the people who you haven't got any blood relation to are the ones who you'll treat dearly and care a lot for.

Happy birthday, my darling Micah. Thank you for making my mornings bright, my evenings less lonelier. I wish for you to grow up to become a healthy, fine individual, and I simply cannot wait to get my hands on you and your chubby, squishy-ble cheeks soon.

Happy Mom's Day (version 2012)

Wish I was with you today, taking you to a spa for a whole day of much-deserved pampering. It's the least I could do for all the selfless things you've done (and will do) for me. I literally owe you my life and I will forever be grateful for that.

This photo of us at the airport--despite being all smiles in it--reminds me how I was so scared to be left in a foreign country. Thank you for being strong for me. But you can't hide how your eyes were misty at that time.

I love you, Ma. This is so cheesy, but God knows how I wish to be with you again.

Labor Day

Great day to get paid today...

...And get myself something fancy.

I've sworn to never give in to a touchscreen phone. Ever. Now, I just ate my words for dinner. This country is like the Asian Sin City of gizmos. Crazy!

Oh, I'm also on Instagram. I'm sort of into that now. You can follow me there (username: ourdailypancake).

Have a kickass month, you guys. Let's go push it!

Art appreciated

It amazes me what lengths people can do for either money or art or both. I am humbled.

For standing still atop a bicycle for hours, unblinking, and in white body paint and a multi-coloured brief, you have my respect, sir.

Lunch with Charlie

What supposed to be an early-morning breakfast at Charlie Brown Cafe with a friend somehow turned out to be a late lunch out alone. I was planning to try out this place for weeks now so I totally didn't mind going by myself.

It was a weekend that time so the place was bustling with happy chatter. Don't you just love being surrounded by feel-good noise? I know I do.

Charlie Cafe Latte

I initially wanted to write a review for this cafe but I realized that the food wasn't the main factor why I enjoyed dining here (the strawberry pancakes I ordered was nothing extraordinary). I thoroughly enjoyed just sitting there for an hour or so, just savoring every forkful bite of my pancakes and sipping a nice, hot cafe latte. Time was going by so slowly, and yet I didn't feel even a bit of impatience.

Lucy's Strawberry Pancakes

While most of the people outside hurried to shop after shop, I simply sat there reading my Kindle while I occassionally people-watched. It feels immensely good to not worry about doing anything even if you have long hours stretched out before you.

All together now

You've got to feel the need to be alone from time to time, and embrace every moment of it when you do. As for me and Charlie, I'm positive this is gonna be a weekly thing.

Freakin' love my freakin' Kindle

Who, in their freakin' bookworm freakin' mind, wouldn't freakin' love it?

Scored my Kindle 4 for a really good deal at Sulit.com two months ago. Within that month, I have read 5 books already, which is quite an achievement. It's the next best thing to an actual book, really (I've stated the reasons why I'd choose a Kindle over an iPad here).

You can WiFi, too but don't get your hopes up too much. It lags even with light web surfing, and typing in the URL is a nightmare. It basically functions like a brick, so you have no choice but to bury yourself with words and work up your imagination in order to be entertained. Perfecto.

Also, if you're looking for something you can play games with or watch videos in it, you're better off with a Kindle Fire or an iPad. But I think that defeats the purpose of owning an eBook reader.

I had a bit of trouble scouting for Kindle protective covers back in Manila. Most of the tech stores I asked at the malls didn't even know what the Kindle is. (I am disappointed with you, people. Very disappointed.) Fortunately, there's a local online store who sells them. You can find their contact details at the bottom of this post.

I'm still freaking out. Get yours, quick!
